HSINCHU, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Airoha Technology and its parent company MediaTek are jointly exhibiting at Network X 2026, showcasing its next-generation 50G-PON AI Gateway Processor and an agent-based AI solution for fixed broadband network diagnostics and self-healing. Delivering 50+50 Gbps symmetric bidirectional throughput with low power consumption, 50G-PON offers up to 5x higher transmission speeds and up to 80% lower latency compared with XGS-PON. It integrates high-speed PON, Ethernet, Wi-Fi 8 and Edge AI into a next-generation fixed broadband gateway platform. Airoha's 50G-PON AI Gateway Processor has been shortlisted for the Network X Awards 2026 "Outstanding Multi-Gigabit Fibre Access Innovation."

As applications including AI, cloud services, 4K/8K video, AR/MR and smart manufacturing continue to grow, fixed broadband networks require not only higher transmission speeds, but also low latency, packet-processing performance and edge-computing capabilities. Airoha's 50G-PON solution adopts a highly integrated SoC architecture with powerful packet-processing capabilities and 20 cores, while supporting high-speed Wi-Fi 8. It can simultaneously handle 50 Gbps PON, Ethernet interfaces, Wi-Fi 8 and encrypted packet processing, supporting the growing bandwidth requirements of residential, enterprise and industrial applications.
MH Shieh, Executive Vice President and Spokesperson of Airoha Technology, said: "Fixed broadband is evolving beyond high-speed access toward intelligent networking. Airoha Technology integrates PON, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, packet processing and Edge AI into a single platform, which not only continues to increase network bandwidth and reduce latency, but also enables the gateway to progressively gain network diagnostics and self-healing capabilities. Together with MediaTek, we tightly integrate high-speed fiber networking, Wi-Fi and 5G CPE. This helps global telecom operators improve network service quality and operational efficiency, while establishing a foundation that can continuously evolve to support future AI-native broadband services."
AI-Native Fiber Broadband Gateway
In addition to high-speed transmission, the Airoha 50G-PON AI Gateway Processor also features built-in TOPS-level compute and can support multiple mainstream AI models, allowing telecom operators to deploy value-added services directly on the gateway. These AI capabilities can be applied to network anomaly detection, automated fault diagnostics and self-healing, while also supporting generative AI applications. The platform also supports PQC (Post-Quantum Cryptography), addressing future network security requirements in the quantum computing era.
Bringing AI Agents Directly into Broadband Fault Diagnostics
To address common home broadband issues such as poor wireless signal quality, misconfiguration, abnormal Optical Network Unit (ONU) status, unstable connectivity or device overload, the solution deploys an LLM-based AI agent equipped with chipset-specific domain expertise on the gateway or ONU. Users can describe problems in natural language, allowing the AI agent to combine device telemetry, network status and a diagnostic knowledge base to identify the root cause, and then provide recommended actions or execute safe remediation actions.
Enterprise-grade AI-assisted diagnostics have already been validated for deployment on existing fiber gateways. Airoha Technology's fixed broadband chipsets use CPU and RISC-V architectures to run large language model-based intelligent agents (LLM-based agents), reducing the dependence of AI agent deployment on high-TOPS endpoint computing while maintaining core routing performance.
